Ehehehe
I've just finished writing an outline for my novel - and it actually turned out real good. The story has, in my opinion, a lot of potential, there's subplots, and the characters seem to have an idea of what they're doing. Yay! Now I just have to write it, ehehe, I'm so excited.
There's still some blank details around the climax, but I'm going to let them be right now. Usually when I plan out everything, my writing turns stale and forced. On the other hand, if I plan nothing, the pacing ends up being waaay to slow and filler-like. I think I've found a good balance.
(Also, guess who just got a new computer. AND is going to get the newest, full version of photoshop. Squee!)
Louise tagged me for this.
Name My first name is Emma, all though I for various reasons use Emmett almost as often. My last name(s) are Hjorth Miltersen, but online you'll mostly see Hjorth. That's because I use whenever I have something to do with writing or drawing, and Miltersen when I do math or science. Don't ask.
Blog ... :D
Nickname The aforementioned Emmett, first of all, and .. gosh, a bunch of others. Emmo is the oldest one, all though that's hardly in use anymore. There's Hjorth and Tjatter, plain and simple, and Ike, and Paarhufer (which means something clow-animal in German. Yeah). Dimitri. Lü, but that's old. And .. um ...
Why do I have all these wierd names?
Favorite Movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Spirited Away, Pom Poko, Goodbye Lenin. Oh, and Disneys Robin Hood. In my mind, Robin is a fox and always will be.
Favorite Book Oh, there's a few ... Popular Music from Vittula by Mikael Niemi, Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, and the newest additions, The Colour of Magic + The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett.
Favorite Singer Sia, Kate Bush and probably Fever Ray too.
Favorite Band R.E.M. No contest. I like Nephew and Safri Duo too, though.
Favorite tv-show Eh, I don't really watch that much tv, but I guess The Simpsons and Friends top the list. Oh, and Last Exile.
Favorite food Ahhh, can't decide. Just make me something with potatoes and I'll be content. Oh, or carrot soup.
Favorite blog Well, I like Louise's blog. I usually take a look at it every day. Kit's, too: The posts are few, but good. This one is pretty swell too.
Favorite actor/actress Ummmmmmmmm yeah I'll just skip this one ...
Favorite music ROCK ROCK ROCK'N'ROLL BABY YEAH.
... *cough*
Right, I mostly hear alternative rock, alternative pop, indie ... most things alternative, really. Oh, and I'm a sucker for instrumental. Y'ever hear the soundtrack from Goodbye Lenin. That is beauty in sound, I tell you.
Hobby Well, I draw, write- oh, you knew that already? ... Right. Other than that, I train karate, read books and comics and play computer games and roleplaying games. I also spend way too much time reading about wierd things on the internet. So yeah, I'm a geek.
Crush HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No.
Favorite Season Hm. Fall, I think. But I enjoy all of them.
Favorite fruit Pear. Not much to say there ...
Favorite colour I like most colours, but I prefer them either strong or dark-ish. Pastels annoy me, for some reason. They didn't use to, but now they do.
Style of clothing I wear clothes that make people wonder if I'm a boy or a girl :D So we're talking loose shirts, t-shirts, and big, baggy pants with metal all over them. Mostly black, with strong colours mixed into it. Back when my hair was still purple, I scared the hell out of my moms co-worker. That was awesome.
Style icon ... what.
Idol Well, my mom, definitely. She's awesome. Other than that, there's quite a few people I look up to - most of my karate instructors, various artists and writers ...
Dream for the future Aw, man, that's a hard question. I guess I ... um. I want to do art. I want to take long walks in the rain. I want to see great cultural and natural things. I want to live. I want to be me, mostly.
I don't want to tag anyone, since everyone have all ready been tagged and I'm just a big meanie-mean head.

ROASTED APPLE SLICES OM NOM NOM

This must be the most adorable thing I've ever drawn. Even if it makes absolutely no sense out of context. Or in context, for that matter.
23:45 24-07-2010
Height

The main cast from 'En Legende om Regn'. Just a amusing doodle.
21:21 24-07-2010
Not really anything but a spur of the moment (probably caused by reading too much Discworld)
”Go on,” he urged.
The heavy and distinctive smell of roasting meat mixed with ink and snake oil filled the room. The furniture were stashed closely together, just barely providing enough room for the two men to stretch their legs. The brutish-looking man leaned back in his bear-fur lined chair and licked his lips thoughtfully.
“Right, so after killing the dragon came the issue of how we were going to prove it. It’s a common rookie mistake, y’see, to wander off on some epic quest and kill your mighty monster of choice, and then when you come back without any proof no-one’s going to believe you, and all that hard work and effort goes down the drain. All new heroes do it at least once.
Now, this particular dragon was fairly large, so it had a head like a small-sized horse, which we couldn’t possibly bring back alone. Cutting out its heart was no good either, the slippery bugger would’ve rot in the summer heat. So we settled on taking one of its teeth …”
“This is all very interesting,” The skinny man ruffled his papers, “if you don’t mind me asking, what was your first thought upon slaying such noble beast?”
The hero considered this, “’About time’”

Optimism, people!
Between 14 and 18-ish years old? Read this.
My trip was great, by the way. I won't bore you with the details, but I've added Amsterdam to my list of favorite cities (or the list of cities that are 'super-awesome-and-exciting-and-in-which-I'd-totally-want-to-live-some-day-and-gosh-love-love-love')
which puts it in an exclusive group with Tokyo and Reykjavik.
In Amsterdam, I went to see the Rijksmuseum. Man, Rembrandt did some really awesome stuff with shadows and light. I bought a print of his first self-portrait to hang on my wall. It's amazing.
There's 8 new photos in the gallery.

Berlin and Amsterdam = Love love love
HI I'M BACK DID YOU MISS ME? Of course you did, haha. I've just been in a tiny car for 10 hours, I'll write about my trip later.
23:54 14-07-2010
Seven hours
It hurts to scrap five pages of your writing, even if you may be able to use it later in the story.
It hurts I tell you. Hurts.
21:16 14-07-2010
OKAY OKAY
Ah, heck, now I've been tagged twice- by Louise and Hannah - I might as well do this. But I'm to lazy to attach that sun-thing.
Three things you like about summer
Late sundowns, birds' singing and thunder. And the smell. (Oh, and time off school and my birthday.) Wait, that was too many.
Three things you don't like so much
BUGS, sweating and an uncomfortable amount of people everywhere.
Favorite things to do in nice weather
Ummmm, I pretty much do the same things, regardless of weather *sulk*. Oh well, I guess bathing in the sea is nice when the sun shines. But my idea of nice weather includes thunderstorms ... so, um, writing and drawing? Taking long walks?
Favorite flower
Heather. Wait, is that even a flower?
Favorite colour
I don't have a favorite colour. Blue and red together is nice though.
Favorite summer dish
... what? Um. Berries? I don't know.
Favorite flavour of ice cream
Chocolate, Vanilla and some sort of berry-mix. Raspberry and orange probably.
Dream vacation goes to ...
Japan. No wait, I've been there. Iceland. Crap, I've been there too!
Best summer vacation so far
A week in Iceland. Man, that place is amazing. That week-and-a-half in Japan was awesome too, but that was in the fall.
Swimwear
I don't like swimwear. But a pair of boy's bathing shorts and some sort of top that actually stays on suffices. *grumbles something*
Plans for this vacation
Well, um. I'm leaving for Berlin and Amsterdam tomorrow. Other than that, write write write, draw draw draw, read read read. (And try and get that writer's forum up and running - Don't worry, I'm working on it!)
Done? Done!
21:10 14-07-2010
Update
I'M SORRY.
Well, I drew something, which is good I guess. But there's no background. And it's pretty much just another glorified doodle. So. Sorry. You can still check it out in the gallery, if you want to.
Also, I've prolonged a lot of writing for several days now. Which is pretty dumb of me, since it's pretty straight-forward writing. I should probably try and get around to it tonight, since I'm leaving my internet behind (yet again) tomorrow.
I promise I'll bring some pretty pictures home from Berlin and Amsterdam.
I've actually been tagged for something, but that's got to wait. See you in eight days. Fav
13:08 12-07-2010
You will be informed that you may be informed of ...
Completing Portal three times in one week probably wasn't as good an idea as it seemed. It appears to be messing with my head ... I am having some, uh, odd dreams. Being forced
to go through lethally dangerous tests in rooms that look like an iPod while suspecting your descent into madness sounds familiar.
Never the less, there are no words for my excitement. I must have seen this trailer 50 times by now.
...
Make that 51.
(Oo! Found another!)
18:54 11-07-2010
There didn't seem to be an alternative
I finished the first Discworld novel, 'The Colour of Magic' by Terry Pratchett, while on vacation a few days ago.
I've never felt so sad to be through with a book, and for a while I sat staring at the cover, smiling and being thankfull for the fact that there's 36 other novels in the series that I have yet to read.
It was getting pretty late, so I went to bed. I couldn't really sleep though, and just lay there giggling about the things I'd just read.
Then I got up and read the book for the second time.
Terry Pratchett is my new god.
I should go ring doorbells and tell people how they can find answers to all of life's mysteries in the good book that is 'The Colour of Magic'. Or, well, I guess I could just read it a third time. In any case, I'm dashing to the bookstore tomorrow to buy the next book.
In case I've caught your interest, maybe I should tell you a bit more about this book. In short, it's about the cowardly wizard Rincewind, who is probably the worst magician in the entire universe. He was kicked out of the Unseen University after proving unable to learn any magic but a single spell,
which even he doesn't know what does. For all he knows, it could end the universe. He is hired as a guide for the world's first tourist, Twoflower, a jolly, naïve little man, who's totally oblivious to the fact that a large amount of people wish to kill him and rob him for all he's worth. Rincewind considers
following their example, but chances his mind (all it took was a death threat from the government). And then, the adventure begins. An adventure with violent fires, the cursed number two-times-four, imaginary dragons, heroes, giant spaceturtles, a frog, trickery gods and the Edge of the planet. All hued
in a greenish-yellow purple: The colour of magic ...
This is a book that's both humourous and awe-inspiring at once, provides amazing characterization, and, above all, is very recommendable.
19:44 03-07-2010
This was a triumph
I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Portal is one of the most awesome games in the entire world. I just completed it a few minutes ago, and I'm head over heels in love all over again.
In other news, I'm leaving for a few weeks of internet-free vacation tomorrow, so the website won't be updated, and if you're following me on deviantArt ect., they won't be either. On the other hand, I'm planning on doing a lot of reading,
which in return probably means that I'll be inspired to do a lot of writing as well. Also, I promise I'll draw a lot and return home with ideas for some really cool digital drawings. With, y'know, backgrounds and stuff.
In case you're wondering (which you probably aren't, but I'm gonna go ahead and tell you anyway, since I'm so excited), one of the books I'm reading is "The Colour of Magic", the first Discworld novel. So far it's really good. Humor and fantasy
is a brilliant combination: This is the kind of stuff I want to write.
Now if you'd excuse me, I'm going to go listen to the Portal Soundtrack.
00:00 01-07-2010
Writinnnng
Yay, I just wrote second chapter of 'En Legende om Regn'. Even though I still have A LOT of world-building to do. Buh-beh. It's fun.
Not quite sure why I'm posting this. I couldn't resist doing an entry at midnight, I guess. I'm pretty tired.
21:19 30-06-2010
Or alternatively, really large reptiles
DRAGONS!!
That said, I went to see the Dreamworks movie 'How to Train your Dragon' today - and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd only heard good things about this movie, but
it turned out to be a lot more awesome than expected.
In brief, it's about the young viking Hiccup - a brainy boy in a society that worships brawn. He wants to be like the other vikings and kill a dragon, but he's so scrawny that he can barely
swing an axe. However, he's somehow able to shoot down one of the most dangerous dragons, even if no one is around to see it. He finds the wounded creature, ready to kill it and bring back its
heart, but upon seeing how frightened it is, he decides to let it loose instead, giving up his chance to be accepted by his fellow vikings. However, the dragon seems to take a liking to him ...
Well, this is a movie that's a lot better than it sounds. It's said to be one of Dreamworks' best movies so far, and rightly so. Not only is the characterzation, graphics, plot and voiceover absolutely stunning,
but it's also slightly darker than DW's earlier movies, and one of the only children's animated films I've ever seen that doesn't have a 100% happy end. 95%, perhaps, but not 100%. And that makes a big difference - to the better.<
Especially since this actually provides a somewhat surprising ending.
I wont bore you anymore - just go watch it all ready.
22:01 29-06-2010
Just a heads up
So, um, the picture from yesterday (or, technically, very early this morning) has been finished and is to be found in the gallery.
I seem to be unable to draw backgrounds as of now. All I do is glorified doodles.
Oh, and while we're at it, I'll just remind you to check said gallery from time to time - I put stuff in there sometimes without writing it in the blog. Gasp, chock, horror.
So take a look. There might be something you haven't seen before.
00:44 29-06-2010
WIP

Why am I not in bed?
I'll finish this crap tomorrow, urg.
19:35 27-06-2010
Imagination
An amazingly beautiful piece.
Sorry for not being very vocal lately. I'm exhausted for several reasons. I can, however, tell you that I am working on the Writer's Forum
I've been talking about, and also doing some world-building for my novel. (I think I've settled on 'En Legende om Regn'/'A Legend of Rain' for the title.)
10:44 23-06-2010
Finished
Note: Don't put beer cans into a bonfire. Especially if there's still a bit of beer left in it. They tend to explode rather
violently, and then all of the sudden you have burns all over your bare legs that hurt like hell. (I'm okay though.)
Other than that, I got my exam results yesterday, and I have now officially left public school with a nice average of 11,36.
Also, I recieved a small scholarship (300 kr) for my artistic abilities especially - I was rather surpriced when they told me, but very proud and happy. They announced it
at the graduation event, and I was called up on stage to recieve it. I was told that I looked very awkward up there, which is probably true, haha.
I may write something intelligent here later. But as for now: More sleep please.
18:10 18-06-2010
Relaxing time
MY EXAMS ARE OVER YESSS.
Finally. Time to kick back, relax, get some reading, writing and drawing done. Sweet.
I get my results Tuesday. I might post them here because I am kind of an arrogant person who likes to brag.
20:32 15-06-2010
When did all this wildlife get here?
I just saw a buzzard flying over my roof. I live in the middle of a semi-large city.
How awesome is THAT!?
12:34 14-06-2010
Seriously, I want to know
What kind of wierd hormone makes me wake up at 3 AM and crave frozen corn? No really, frozen corn. I never crave cake or candy or even pickles or something else remotely normal. It's
always corn, roastbeef, tunafish. My body is odd.
So, um, aaaanyway.
I feel like drawing. And writing. I've been spending most of my time studying, so I have so much surpressed creative energy inside me that it's leaking out the wazoo. So expect some pretty-looking
stuff some time next week. Yes.
22:00 12-06-2010
Sadism
How to decide on your viewpoint character in a novel:
"Who in your story seems to be wearing a sign that says, 'Kick me'?"
From this rant by Limyaael.
23:01 09-06-2010
Tagtagtag
Gosh, I was tagged yet again, this time by Hannah.
For some reason she's tagged me as Maria. Uh. Yeah, okay.
I've already been tagged for this game before, so I won't tag anyone new. I'll just write 7 things about myself. Again.
- I like fiction. I like dissappearing into another world, whether it's by writing, drawing, reading or watching.
- I have trouble finding new things to write here. I have a bunch of stuff I could write, but I'm not going to reveal that on the internet. Not yet at least.
- I have the most awesome clock in the world.
- I love Pokémon, and I have since I was a little kid.
- I'm basically a Nintendo-fan, and so is my dad and brother.
- I just ate a kiwi. Haha, I don't know.
- I really ougth to go to sleep now.
That's it, done, finito.
16:34 09-06-2010
Division
I am sick, sick, sick and tired of all these gender-specific wares. I was out shopping today, and I wanted to buy a nice west. But I was told, "Oh, honey, you don't want to buy that. That a men's west."
All right, fine, I ended up buying a women's west instead. A bit irritated, I stopped to look at some wallets. I found a nice, small one, but:
"Oh, you don't want that. That's a men's wallet."
...
What.
You have to be kidding me. It's a wallet. I wish people would get off my back and let me buy what I want to. I hate genders.
20:09 07-06-2010
Pardon the double-post, but ...
"Stargazing? As teenagers, I think they're believably allowed to apply Rule Of Cool to their own lives in place of logic. I know I have. Why are you running through suburbia pretending to be a ninja? Why are you sitting on a roof? Because it's cool. Duh."
- Forum-goer on TvTropes.org
Best. Quote. Ever.
(Acutally, my favorite quotes are "Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane" and "The sex between the ears is more important than the sex between the legs", but this one is right up there.)
19:58 07-06-2010
The smell of life and the thought something behind the walls
O Summer Rain, how I hath missed thou.
On that note, I'm halfway through my oral exams now - which means I'm three-quarters through the entirety of my exams. So far it's looking pretty good.
Also, perhaps you'll be interested in knowing that I've written the first chapter of my aforementioned fantasy. I'll have to take a break off writing while
I study, though. Let's see how many times that chapter will be rewritten before I get on with the rest of the story. I'm guessing ... four or five times? Can I take your bets, anyone?
I can't really decide if a specific character should be used as one of the viewpoints. The two other viewpoint characters are much closer to being the main protagonists than she is, but on the other hand ...
she's got an I-won't-take-your-crap-attitude which I really like writing with. I don't know. Oh well.
21:08 04-06-2010
Pitch
Futhermore, I just realized that one of the two novels I'm working on takes place in a world-wide, boiling hot desert, while the other takes place in a world of snow.
Polar opposites, much? Could have something to do with me coming up with the ideas during spring and fall, respectively.
20:40 01-06-2010
---
Other than that - woops, I was apparently tagged again. Altair and Louise have granted me this lovely
award - thanks a lot. I'm supposed to pass it along to seven other people, but deary me, I don't have seven other people to pass it along to. I'll just hand it over to
Kit and Hannah.
Next, I have to write seven things about myself. ... Again? All right then, here goes ...
1) I like blue. My hair is going to be blue soon.
2) I am of the opinion that gender roles need to be killed violently with fire. Along with the whole concept that there's only two genders, and that their mutually exclusive.
3) I collect all sort of little things from other countries - coins, toys, trinkets, clothes ...
4) I carry two notepads on me at all times. One for scribling down sketches and ideas, the other for all sorts of crappy personal emo-stuff if I'm feeling particulary angsty. Or just wierd
observations that probably qualifies me as insane.
5) I won an award as "Nerd/Geek of the Year" when I left school a few days ago. My mother posted this on Facebook and it instantly got 13 'like's. NO WONDER I WAS NOMINATED with that family. Haha, no, it was really awesome.
6) I just aced my history exam. BOO-YAH.
7) I like comics. Mostly webcomics, though. Some of my favorites -- well, just look under the link section. I especially like Order of the Stick and Hanna is not a boy's name.
Done now? Good.
19:40 24-05-2010
Draw draw draw
Here's a really big pile of sketches. Newest on top. Most of them are my own characters and some croquis, but
some fanart for Adele Rannes and Rich Burlew snuck in there. They own their respective characters, if you can spot them.
10:48 24-05-2010
Tag, you're blue!

Hannahh tagged me for the colour challenge - I need to take a picture of any blue things I have.
1 - A painting I made a while ago. I still haven't gotten around to hanging it somewhere yet.
2 - One of my stuffed Pokémon dolls - a Quagsire.
3 - My security blanket from when I was little - I don't exactly have a need for it anymore, but it's still dear to me.
4 - The coolest clock in the world. No, really. I saw it in a small shop in Barcelona and I couldn't resist buying it. It's accurate and everything, too!
5 - An Egyptian necklace my friend bought me. It's a scarab.
I tag Louise with the colour RED, Altair with the colour GREEN, and Kit with the colour ORANGE.
Not the most creative blog in the history of the world, but meh, they can't all be winners. Besides, I have homework to do.

Extract
Tianna gjorde klar til at rykke i rebet og skælde Jerra ud, men i samme nu kom Takir med en række indviklede elverske ord som frembragte en kluklatter fra Relin;
”Ah. Demir. Meget passende.”
”Hvad?”
Takir citerede hende.”
”Såh?” Jerra lød ikke overbevist, ”Hvad var citatet?”
Tianna trak lidt op i smilebåndet efter at have udvekslet et blik med Takir og tænkte sig lidt om, ”Så vidt jeg kunne forstå, noget a la; Tonedøv sanger håner andres melodi.”
Just to prove that I am actually doing at least some proper writing. Some times. This is for a fantasy novel I'm planning (yes, that does mean I am planning two novels at once), and this scene came to mind
after reading Limyaael's rant on fantasy languages and lack of arts. I forgot how much I love worldbuilding.
As for the novel itself, I'm trying to do a bit more blase take on fantasy. We'll see how that turns out. My current work title is "Tørke" - "Drought".
14:25 13-05-2010
Useful Rants
Hey writers! Take a look at limyaael's Fantasy Rants
and become a better writer. Never mind the 'fantasy' in there. These clever little writings applies to most if not all genres.
(And don't worry, I will write a proper blog someday soon.)
12:51 05-05-2010
Well, would you look at that
Oh my.
15:55 28-04-2010
Blocked out
I'm afraid I have a writer's block. I haven't been able to write anything lately - a few ideas are roaming in my head, but I don't have the power to drag them onto the
paper. I feel dead inside, urgh. I hope it'll pass soon.
Meanwhile, I'll focus on my exams. I also want them to go away, please. SOON.

Gaah
I want to read.
I really, really want to read. I have a list of no less than 30 books that I'd like to read, but the thing is: I have no time. I have no time to read,
write, draw or anything, due to this little thing called my final exams that start in two frickin' weeks. In case you're wondering, I am not looking
forward to it. Incidentially, the one book that I actually should read, isn't anywhere to find, libary nor book store. Urgh urgh rant.
Also, what's up with those prams that look like some wierd hybrid between barstools and lego? I've seen no less than three people pushing their babies
around in them. Wearing suits (???). It's like they were pulled right out a pompous Ikea catalouge.

Nature Neutralizes Itself
I assume you heard about the giant clouds of ash being emitted from the Icelandic vulcano Eyjafjallajökull . I don't see how you couldn't have - at least if you live in Northen Europe. It's
all over the news. Flights being cancelled and stuff.
Though, I find it really amazing. The layer of ash in the air is going to block the sunrays and slow down the process of global warming. I wonder if it'll cancel it out completly. That would
be somewhat ironic - it's almost as if nature itself got fed up with us humans worrying about what to do about the climate, and decided to fix it itself.

Read along
A friend and I just finished one of our best roleplaying sessions. After many hours of writing, we ended up with over sixteen thousand words and twenty three pages.
I've been doing written roleplaying since December 2006, and it's definitly the factor that has influenced my writing the most - Some of my best works is found in
my roleplaying.
So, I thought I'd show you a session, partly because I tend to write slightly different than when I'm writing fx a short story. Since it's an on going story, a little
background information might be in order:
The setting is "Krystallandet" - The Crystal Country - a fantasy world, currently governed by an evil dictator. My character - Renatika - has been trying to start a riot
by vandalizing a statue. My friend's character - Lucifer - is ... well, it would be a pity to call the two of them friends, seeing as they have an unfortunate tendency
of beating each other up, and Renatika pretty much gets a kick out of verbally abusing the poor guy, but they do care for each other. On some level. Anyway, Lucifer works
for the dictator, who sent him and an officer out to arrest Renatika. Long story short, Lucifer turned against his master, and both him and Renatika got roughed up pretty
badly and threwn into prison.
Read it here. (Danish only - sorry)

Tag!
Louise tagged me for another fun, little game: List ten things that make you happy. Okay then.
1) Writing and drawing and basically being creative. It's honestly some of the greatest things I know, and I have no doubts that I some day will be
making a living of it. There's just this odd magic tied to spending hours writing or drawing something and, while I enjoy myself very much just doing it, looking
at a finished work and being able to say "I made this" with satisfaction just makes me feel all jiggly.
2) Creating sorta overlaps with the above, but I still feel it should be a seperate section. If you take point 1) to mean more the technical aspects and the act
of writing/drawing itself, creating covers the mental aspect, what it does on another level. Truly, this is what makes me feel alive. Feeling a world of my own unravel
under my feet, seeing the characters I made up evolve and take actions almost as if by their own free will, being so loaded with stories and settings and creations that
I fear my head and heart is going to explode. I have no words. But it makes me happy.
3) Using my body, namely, doing karate. While tough and exhausting, a good, creative workout together with good friends can do wonders to bad mood and an acing body and/or mind.
4) Learning - I love learning. Not just in school (sometimes I actually prefer not being at school), but by browsing the web, reading the paper and the like. I can spend hours reading
online wikis and I enjoy reading about news in the cultural and academic world.
5) Being with friends is, in fact, something I enjoy. I'm not a very social nor outgoing person, but I still enjoy spending an afternoon or a whole weekend with a friend. Mostly I prefer being just
the two of us, but there's a few certain persons with whom I love spending time as a group with.
6) Being by myself - I have to be honest. While I enjoy company, I frequently prefer to be alone with my thoughts or whatnot. I like going for walks by myself, often bringing along a sketchpad, a book, camera or the like. Or
maybe just relaxing at my room, looking out the window or scribling ideas into my tiny black notebook.
7) Listening to music sometimes makes everything better. This is something I prefer doing alone - partly because my taste in music is somewhat obscure, partly because it makes me feel better
to sing along very loudly and passionate; not necessarily when there's actual lyrics. A nice passing of time is to turn up my stereo and hopping wildly around to the tunes of R.E.M, The Cranberries, Sia, Mike Oldfield or what have me.
Possibly to the dismay of my neighbors. But hey, they started it!
8) Weather has a very large impact on me - so naturally, certain types of weather makes me feel happy. Personally I love a well-smelling wind or a loud rain against my window. And clouds. Let us not forget clouds. White, of course, on a
blue, sunny background. And sunsets. Yesss.
9) Doing kind things makes me feel all happy-warm-gooey inside. Kind things here mostly meaning charity - like putting my change from stores into those little, white cans at the counter; collecting money for a helping organisation;
or just helping someone on the street finding their way. Even if I'm rarely much help in that last case - My sense of direction can be unfavorably compared to that of a rock.
10) Being complimented and acknowlegded. Pretty much what it says on the tin - I like when people tell me I'm doing a good work. That being said, I like getting constructive critism as well - it helps me improve, so that I might get even more
compliments! :D
Whew. That was tricky. But there you go. I tag ... anyone who feels like doing this.

Odd Stuff
Is it just me, or does it seem somewhat ironic to sing "The Wall" by Pink Floyd at your school's 100th anniversary?
Also, told you so!

Somewhat productive
You know that short story I said I might get around to translate sometime during the holidays? Yeah, I didn't finish the Danish version until just last night. Sorry about that.
It's up in Danish now, however.
Also, a new illustration. Anyone up for Norse Mythology?

Change
New design's up! I felt like something new to look at. It also kept me busy so I didn't have to do my homework. ... I guess I have to them now, then. Darn.
Anyways, enjoy the change of setting.

I'm doing a sketch-blog-ish thing with a couple of friends. Basically we deside on a subject per week, and draw something that fits it.

Kittens
Yet another pause. A deep, penetrating pause, in which silence lay as suffocating blanket in the small, white room, a pause, which, for once, was not deliberate. It wasn’t for show. The robot starred into a sole point on the wall, seeming as if he hesitated,
while the young scientist held his breath and his hands, continuing their work mindlessly and by own force. Skyler’s pant implied that he was still in pain.
“Do you still find me nice?” he asked, his voice the smallest, the most fragile voice in the world. Still it was friendly and gentle.
Short story in progress. Will be up in Danish only at first, but I think I might get around to translating it during my Easter break.

Do you know the game Portal? I've been intrigued by it for while, but only recently got my self together and looked it up. (And must be the last person in the world to do so)
And holy heck, my mind was blown. I highly recommend that you, if not play the game, then look up some of the gameplay/walkthrough videos on YouTube. It's like watching a movie!
Really, do it. You won't regret it.
Also, this song is the game's ending credits. And it's BRILLIANT. Especially when you consider that the lyrics is to be
taken completly literally. Sarcasticly, yes, but never the less literally. Ha ha.

Rant: Sex Sells
Is it just me, or are (Danish) commercials been going out of their way lately? Especially two are bothering me:
The first is a commercial for a clothing store, featuring a bunch of quick shots of people leaning towards each other, almost kissing. What bothers me,
is that it's shot in a way that makes the viewer focus just on their lips - not their clothing. Um, hello? What does random people almost kissing have to
do with fashion? Especially when you barely notice what clothes they're wearing?! And it doesn't stop here: When I say random people, I mean mainly boy-girl
couples, and sometimes two girls (with who you, incidentally, get a close-up slow-motion shot of their lips almost meeting) - but no boy-boy couples.
Saying that something like that annoys me would be an understatement. When you make a commercial that so obiviously uses sex as an - illogical, no less - tool
to sell wares, couldn't you at least include couples of all gender-combinations? I mean, your slogan is Infinite Combinations, for crying out loud!!
Alright, the other one is not as bad - actually, it's more hillarious than anything. It's a commercial for a gym, which supposely makes you 'a bit too hot'
- so, we see an attractive guy taking a shower, then rubbing himself with a fish, and then telling us that this will help him guard off whatever new admirers
this 'hotness' he got from the gym has attracted. Alright, fair enough, sounds like a fun idea. And the commercial works just fine, the guy in the shower
takes out the fish, the viewer goes 'what' and laughs - until the guy seems a bit too comfortable. Yeah. It defiantly looks like that fish is a major turn-on
for him. Especially when he outright kisses the fish and rubs it against his skin near his ... lower regions. Unfortunate implications, anyone?
Sorry. End of rant.

So grey out urgh
Writer's/Artist's block is goshdarn awful.
It's honestly one of the worst feelings I know. I have this urge, this craving to create, but I can't. I can feel the ideas roam about in the back of my head, but they seem just out of reach.
I can sense it, just a paragraph, a simple composion, a sentence flickers by my fingertips, but I can't quite capture it, I can't put it down on paper just right. It somehow loses it's momentum,
whatever magic I sensed in it is gone as soon as I put my fingers on the keyboard.
I hate it.
(At least I can write something about not being able to write. The feeling alone is something to explore - I even have a rp character who's somewhat of a walking writer's block.)

I just had the most brillant idea: I'd write a novel taking place in 2010, mainly focusing on social structure and technology, then go back to the eighties and sell it as science fiction!
Then I remembered that there's no such thing as time travel.
Yet.

Broken Aesop
Beware - Spoilers
So, I watched Avatar today. And I must be the last person in the world to do so. Boy, has 3D gone a long way since last time - it actually helps that they're not trying to make stuff
pop into your face all the time.
The movie was great, just like I heard, but am I the only one who really didn't like that Jake transfered into his avatar at the end? Sure, it's convenient while living on Pandora, and his old legs were numb, but
it kinda sends the message that 'humans are bastards, it sucks to be one, and it's even worse if you're handicapped, so transfer bodies if possible'. I mean, it's like the whole reaccuring theme with Jake dreaming about being able to walk/fly but having to wake up
just fades away. Wouldn't the movie have provided a better moral if he'd learned to live with his body and accepted who he was? It doesn't help that humans are seriously being portraited as monsters just wanting to the get their hands on money, all the while the storyline hinting that Earth
had gone somewhat inhabitable and without flora, meaning the humans actually had a better reason for wanting the na'vi's land.
Granted, not transfering bodies would've made the alien sex a bit more complicated.

Brain you have failed me so
Just this morning I realized why some people frown upon getting your ideas from your dreams:
My dreams make absolutely no sense. THEY'RE INSANE! I tell you. Last night I dreamt about lawyers, FoeYay/HoYay, Naruto dressed as Officer Jenny, catapillars and thievery. At the time it made sense. I almost considered making it a real novel.
But a few hours after I woke up, I seriously doubted my sanity. I mean, holy ...
Ahh. All this blabbering. It must stop.

At last, the sky is blue. That is so much better. I miss being alive.
I thought I had something to write here, I think I may have dreamt about it. A long, proper entry, but when I woke up, my mind was empty. I don't know what is happening.
Maybe I do have something to write. It could be my beliefs that's holding me back. See, I made a promise long ago that I wouldn't write whatever personal blabber I had on my mind here,
since I assumed nobody was interested in reading that. But then again ... There's a few certain blogs I enjoy reading partly because the authors (some of whom I know from elsewhere) seem to be going through some of the
same thoughts as myself. And that makes me feel uplifted. Less alone. So I don't know. Lately, I haven't been able to write anything about ... what to say ... world-wide issues maybe? I'm thinking that's because
all of a sudden, the things on my mind aren't as world-wide as they used to.
Oh geez, I feel like I'm just rambling away here. I am, aren't I? Anyway. I want January to be over. Now. This month is killing me, it's dragging my skin off with crooked hooks, sewing my eyes shut closed and numbing me.
I need a new beginning.
You should probably just disregard this whole entry. It's basically desperate chatting from a sick teenager. If you're able to figure it out, you have my admiration. ... Is that even a word?

Tag, you're it!
Oh my, I got tagged by Altair - this time I need to list my favorite things. Alright then, I will. Don't worry, I'll make sure to write you a proper entry someday soon, haha.
Favorite Flower: I've always loved heather - mostly because I've spent many Summers in an area filled with this flower.
Favorite Food: Almost anything with potatoes - especially baked ones. Carrot soup is made of pure win, too.
Favorite Books: "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami, no doubt. I lo-ove his books. Other than that, "Popular Music from Vittula" by Mikael Niemi is very high on the list as well.
Favorite Clothing: I love baggy clothing - hoodies and the like. Colours? Mostly black, blue, white and purple. Camo pattern I love.
Favorite Shoes: Aw, shoes? Pretty much whatever gets me by is fine. Although, a nice pair of boots is never out of the way.
Favorite Pastries: Peartart! Oh peartart so very much! Also, strawberry cakes. And anything with whipped cream and pastry cream! Ahh ..
Favorite Vegetable: Hm. Corn I think. Or carrots, when they're boiled in butter and sugar. Yum. I suppose I have a sweet tooth.
Favorite Fruit: Pears and kiwies!
Favorite Film: "Ethernal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" tops my list. Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies and other Studio Ghibli movies is something I hold dear as well. Also Toy Story. Oh, and Amélie and Goodbye Lenin too! I love movies.
Favorite Television Shows: Friends, Grey's Anatomy, and How I met your Mother.
Tea or Coffee?: Tea all the way. Rooibush and fruit tea is brilliant. Although, I'd prefer a cup of hot chocolate any time.
Magazine: Hm, I do not read many magazines, admitted ... but I like 'Psykologi' and 'Illustreret Videnskab'.
Vacation: Beach, Skiing or City: CITY CITY CITY! I hate skiing, and the one time we spent just half a day going to the beach, I hated it. I like exploring strange cities, please. And look at sightseeings.
Beer or Wine: I don't like alkohol~ But if I had to choose; beer.
Favorite sport: Karate! And most other martial arts as well. Fighting is fuuuun!
Alright, then I have to tag someone ... let's see, Kit and Lea.

20:31 20-01-2010
What an honor!
I found a pleasant surprise in my guestbook today - I'd appearently recieved a Creative Blogger Award from Louise. I'm so honored! She even wrote me some kind words; that really warms my heart, thank you very much~
So, now that I've recieved this award, I'm obligated to write seven random things about myself. Will do!
1) I love to travel, and have done this quite a lot already - I've currently been to 11 different countries, excluding Denmark. Everytime I go somewhere, I make sure to buy at least two or more trinkets as a souvenir, and when my parents go somewhere, they usually bring home a local trinket for me themselves. The result: My room is loaded with all kinds of strange stuff.
2) I'm a devoted Nintendo fan, so is my father and younger brother. We own a copy of almost every single console they've made, and tons of games.
3) My favorite writer is Haruki Murakami, even though I seldom completly understand what his books are about. At least not the first time I read them.
4) I have no idea how to write my signature. My full name seems awkward when I try. Also, I keep switching between using "Hjorth" and "Miltersen" as my surname, because I like them both, but not together.
5) I'm pretty asocial (and a lot other a-stuff), but I'm actually a rather nice person anyway~
6) I learned how to read pretty early - when I was four. When I went to school for the first time, my teachers didn't get how I could read and not write - they didn't seem to understand that I recognized words by their shape, not their sound.
7) I lived in Canada from when I was about ten weeks (I think) until I was two. When I learned how to talk, my language was a wierd mix between English and Danish. Oh, and appearently my favorite letter back then was the English "G". My parents blame Sesame Street.
Whoa. That was harder than I thought.
Other than writing this, I have to pass on the award to a few other people. For this, I have chosen;
Kit - Her website is truly a work of art in and of itself, and her creative blogs always leave me smiling, pondering, or otherwise impressed.
Lea - I know her from real life, and she's one of the most special and interesting people I have met - and this shows in her blog, which is both sharp and insightful and fun to read.
I suppose this is all for now - thanks again~

Snow? Something with snow, yes. Nameless in Snow perhaps
Haha, okay, maybe I can't wait until summer to start working on this story~ This is a scene that'll take place very early on, but I'm not going to get into details about the plot ect. A lot of things still need to be worked out, but how do you like it so far? I'm
still not sure about the title, only that I'll contain the word "snow". I'm thinking "Nameless in Snow" maybe? "Navnløs i Sne" Hmm.
12:37 15-01-2010
End
Sigh. I just made it through maybe the most stressful week in my life so far, and now that I finally have the time and energy to take long walks in the woods, the snow is melting. Just my luck.
But anyway! I've finished writing a novella - "Gylden Sne" - and the prolouge is avalable for download. Only in Danish though. It was written for a large school project, and, well, I can't say it's
my best work, but it's okay. Try reading it anyway. As mentioned above, I just uploaded the prolouge, and the next chapers will be up monday through friday for the next two weeks or so. Enjoy.

Land of Snow
"I had a dream last night."
"That's not surpricing. We all dream every night. Was it a special dream?"
"It was. I dreamt of a world. Just that, a world. And I was a inhabitant of this world, which was so different from our own. It was magical. An imaginary world. A land of snow."
"What? A land of snow? That's no imaginary world. Look around us, the place is covered with snow! This IS a land of snow."
"No, you don't understand! This world I dreamt of - it was the exact opposite of this world we live in. Everything was different. There was people, and there was ... it was the excact opposite. That's why
is was called Land of Snow. Because it wasn't."
"So you dreamt of something that was the opposite of what it was?"
"Yes."
"That doesn't even make sense."
"I know. And I think that's the point."
What the heck, this isn't even what I'm working on right know. But I will be working on this. Someday. Perhaps this summer. I tell you, anyhow, it'll be great.

People are very real
Fragments of conversation I head while walking down the main shopping street:
"How much booze are you bringing" - "Heh, A LOT!"
"Insanely skinny, insanely skinny"
"Mommy!"
"Heh heh, I was gonna climp up in that one right there!"
"-Something in Icelandic-"
"So, it went like this"
"Really great waffles"
"It should be right down this.."
I'm not sure what to think of these.

Announcement
I'd like you all to know that I've made the spontanious decision and declared 2010 "Year of Creativity."
Because it's always good to set goals, even if you're not really into the whole new year, new everything deal. But I believe '10 will be a
very productive year, at least for me. In a few weeks, I'll release a a novel(la - still not sure how long it will be) concerning a school project about
"From Utopia To Dystopia" What does that mean? Well, you will se.
Furthermore, 2010 will also be the year I will, hopefully, start in gymnasiet. *gasp* This means I'm going to apply to an art school, so at least 4-5 new pieces of illustrations and photos
will be up around September - but of course, a lot more will be up much sooner. After all, I need my practice, and let's face it; I can't stay away from my sketchpad~
So anyway. Have a creative year everyone!
Also, look what I recieved from Louise. All because I knew of a certain game for Nintendo 64. Man, now that I think of it, I love that console. I can't help
but being a hopeless Nintendo fangirl.

Thanks Louise! She used a picture from here.

Rinse and repeat
Perhaps we should start off 2010 with some insight. Have you ever seen the movie "Die Welle"? Wether you have

Please don't let the length scare you off. Read it all the way through. I promise it will be worth your while.
